I admit it. I’m a slave to ranch dressing. It goes good on bloody near anything. Pizza? Dip it in ranch. OMG. Fries, salad, vegetables, crackers. Best snacking dip/salad dressing on the planet.
But. There’s always a but. I can’t have dairy. Even trying to make Ranch with soy milk and the packet of flavoring was no good. Buttermilk solids in the powder. And MSG, the migraine inducer.
So, I finally, with much joy, have a dairy free “Ranch” Style dressing that is even better than “The real thing”. Even my DD, who is a extreme critic of what is acceptable in a Ranch style dressing approves this one. “That’s the BEST!” was her quote.
Dairy Free Ranch Style Dressing.
1/2 cup soy milk.
1.5 teaspoon raw apple cider vinegar.
1/2 cup Tofrutti better than Sour Cream
1 cup mayonnaise.
1 teaspoon raw apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
.5 teaspoon dried dill
.5 teaspoon dried parsley.
Mix the soy milk with the 1.5 teaspoon vinegar. Let stand 10 minutes. This creates “buttermilk”
Add the soy milk with remaining ingredients and blend completely. Refrigerate. Enjoy.
* Yes, use soy milk. Rice and Almond milk didn’t work right.
* Raw Apple Cider vinegar brought the best results. I tried pasteurized apple cider and plain white with less perfect results.
* Tofrutti has the best imitation Sour Cream out there, in my opinion. No hydrogenated oils and it’s hard tell the difference.
* If you’re vegan, try the vegan mayo. It results in a very runny version, but the taste is the same.
* I use no cholesterol, low fat mayo. (Best Foods/Hellmans Canola mayo)
